At the end of March, I flew out from New York to Laramie, Wyoming to record drum tracks for the latest Soul Rash album, Trilogy. The tracks were already laid down — all that was missing were the drums — and I cranked it out over a single weekend. I’ve been part of this project for several years, including playing on our previous album, Legacy, and it’s always exciting to see how our sound evolves.

Behind the Kit

The studio buzzed with energy as I recorded drums to the tracks Jim and Chris had already laid down. I came in with basic charts from the demos, aiming to capture each song in a single take — that’s where the energy really happens. I also recorded a few alternate versions so the band could decide what felt best.

Here we go — laying down the drum tracks, all MIC’d and locked in, feeling the grooves come alive.

Tracking Drums Live: A Quick Glimpse Into the Session

I came in with basic charts from the demos and aimed to capture each song in a single take — that’s where the energy really happens. I also recorded a few alternate versions so the band could decide what felt best. Every take told its own story, and it was amazing to hear how small changes could completely shift the vibe.

A Little Nostalgia

My son Trevor has been part of this journey from the start, growing up around the sound of Soul Rash. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do — the music sticks and carries forward.

Reflections from the Session

By the end of the weekend session in Laramie, the studio and the band felt truly alive. Timber Canyon is more than just a place to record — it’s where you create, experiment, and really dig into the music. From the drum kit to the laughs and smiles we shared, every moment captured the heart of Soul Rash’s energy.

Let's roll,

Brett
